Dr. Lernhardt obtained his Ph.D. from The University of Heidelberg, Germany. His thesis work was performed at the Basel Institute for Immunology in Basel, Switzerland. Postdoctoral research was performed at the Molecular Biology Institute of the University of California at Los Angeles. Following a assistant professorship at the Burnham Institute in La Jolla, CA Dr. Lernhardt held the position of Research Program Director at a not-for-profit affiliate of Stratagene Cloning System. He then spent 5 years in assay development, kit production and marketing at Stratagene Cloning Systems. Dr. Lernhardt has 7 years of experience in managing MAXIA Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from start-up stage to the acquisition by Incyte Corporation. He is a proven leader of an R&D stage organization with demonstrated leadership skills and expertise of running a biotech start-up, from strategic direction to financing and acquisition. He has a track record of bringing products to market, of advancing drug candidates to the partnering stage and acquisition of a development-stage company by larger biotech firm. He has assay development, small molecule drug discovery, development and clinical research experience. Dr. Lernhardt will be responsible for the overall strategic direction of the Company and management of the daily business.
John J. Lin, Ph.D, M.B.A
Chief Financial Officer
Dr. Lin brings combined 10 years of experience in financial services, consulting, business development, and product research and development. Dr. Lin is Senior Associate at Moore Venture Partners, a venture capital firm investing in technology and life sciences companies. Dr. Lin was previously Associate at Pantek Partners, a startup M&A investment bank focused on US-China transactions. Prior to his position at Pantek Partners, Dr. Lin interned briefly as an equity research analyst at Nicholas Investment Partners, a hedge fund firm. Dr. Lin started his career at Industrial Technology Research Institute where he was first a Project Leader leading research and development of drug delivery products and subsequently a Business Development Project Manager for biologics. Dr. Lin is trilingual in English, Chinese-Mandarin, and Taiwanese. Dr. Lin received his M.B.A. from University of California, San Diego, his Ph.D., as a NASA Fellow, in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from University of Pennsylvania, and his B.S., with Distinction, in Chemical Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Thomas V. Compton
Vice President Business Development
Mr. Compton has more than 25 years experience in both the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. He has held numerous senior positions in sales, marketing, commercial operations, business development and served as the first CEO of SkinMedica. His expertise has included numerous therapeutic categories and he has contributed to successful programs and launches at Johnson & Johnson, Ligand Pharmaceuticals, ICN Pharmaceuticals, Dura Pharmaceuticals, Bausch & Lomb Pharmaceuticals and Purdue Pharma. While at ICN, Tom maximized corporate profits with a 28% increase in profits from past years and directed both sales and marketing for the company. He was responsible for the product launch of AVINZA® at Ligand that resulted in the first profitability for the company and revenues exceeded $150 M before the product was sold and he was responsible for more than $30M in corporate savings for J&J with his market analysis and projections for a new product that he recommended that corporation not launch because of limited opportunities for profitability within four years. Tom has a proven track record for ensuring profits , maximizing returns and leading teams in companies to profitability. He graduated from The University of North Carolina with a Bachelor’s Degree and was awarded a Master’s of Business Administration from Sacred Heart University.
